A quick trip to Cat Island, Louisiana reminded us that sometimes the best adventures are the simple ones. Towering cypress trees and quiet trails make you feel like you escaped without actually going far. A much-needed hike complete with fresh air, muddy shoes, and a solid reminder of how lucky we are to have spots like this so close to home.
Home to some of the oldest and largest bald cypress trees in the country, including one estimated to be over a thousand years old, this area is reminiscent of the towering sequoias of Yosemite.
