Weekend Kickoff: California
We started August with a quick trip out to California to celebrate Marc’s grandparents’ anniversary. While there, Marc made sure Caitlin tried the famous special at Joe Jost’s. The next morning, we took an early morning detour to dip our toes in the Pacific Ocean at Newport Beach (a first for Caitlin), watch local surfers catch a few waves, and of course snag a breakfast burrito before heading back inland.

Red Dress Run 2025
In early August, we “competed” in our second Red Dress Run—a true southern Louisiana staple. Copious amounts of body glitter and a stop at Lafitte’s Landing ensured a very good time was had by all. After the run, we stopped by Caitlin’s parents, bringing a much-needed smile to her mom, who had just returned home from surgery.

Bachelorette Weekend
A highlight of the month was Caitlin’s amazing bachelorette trip, organized by her besties—full of laughter and capped off with a bucket-list meeting with William and Mo 😂. William was feeling a little extra friendly that day.

From iconic coastal dining at Mary Mahoney’s to a little Elvis nostalgia at Gulf Hills Resort, plus celebrating LSU’s season opener on a gloriously large screen at Beau Rivage, the whole trip was a much-needed getaway—thoughtfully planned by friends who absolutely nailed it.

Backyard Inspiration & a Morgan City Adventure
Toward the end of the month, we set our sights on sprucing up the backyard. After finding the cutest sitting area in Algiers, we were inspired to take a page from The Little House’s playbook and scored a gorgeous clawfoot tub on Facebook Marketplace for a price too good to pass up.

That meant a road trip down to Morgan City, where we stumbled right into the Shrimp and Petroleum Festival. We explored the legendary Mr. Charlie rig museum and enjoyed some amazing local eats — the perfect way to wrap up a busy month.

Bonus Highlights
A quick afternoon trip to NOLA for authentic Trinidadian cuisine (do yourself a favor and check out Queen Trini Lisa (Queen Trini Lisa), a quick bite in a converted church (Vessel), and a disco dance party (Rock’n’Bowl | New Orleans & Lafayette | Live Music).

Marc ticked off another house project and fixed the driveway.

And we even got a few important wedding to-dos checked off💒!

And for the record, Malört shots are always a bad idea.
An evening at Pepp’s Pub, famous for its Chicagoan style and notorious Malört shots, proved to be the perfect chance for Caitlin and her coworkers to test their bravery.
